Part-time Aspen couple goes to Splitsville, then to court

A bitter breakup has landed in Pitkin County District Court, where an Aspen woman has accused her ex-fiance of stealing her jewelry, balking on a house-remodeling project and reneging on a payment for her wedding ring.

Katherine Beckley filed suit Wednesday in Pitkin County District Court, accusing Andrew K. Skarupa of causing her “severe stress, anxiety, depression, heartaches, grief and other emotional distress.”

A representative for Skarupa issued a statement Thursday saying the lawsuit’s claims have no foundation.

“The allegations are baseless and without merit and Drew looks forward to being vindicated in court, and I’m obligated to say Drew reserves all rights available to him under the law, should false allegations be printed about him,” said Evan C. Itzkowitz, a Beverly Hills, California, attorney.
